Offer your support for 2 Wish Upon a Star for their annual 2-day 120-mile cycle ride from Taunton to Miskin, South Wales.
This is one of the charity’s main fundraising events and the money raised makes a massive difference to the work they do on a daily basis. The aim of the charity is to raise funds to improve bereavement services here in Wales with an emphasis on bereavement support for parents after losing their child suddenly and traumatically.
The event kicks off on Thursday, June 3rd. Day 1 of the cycle will take place from Taunton to Portishead which is a distance of 58.2 miles. The second day will see the cyclists ride from Portishead to Miskin which is a distance of 57.7 miles.
Bob Kennedy of Mynt Apps will be partaking in the cycle. He said, “The event raises funds and the profile of a charity called 2 Wish Upon a Star. The charity was founded by a lady called Rhian Burke who lives in the same village as me. The aim of the charity is to help bereaved parents to cope with the loss of a child – Rhian went through her own traumatic experience of losing both her son and husband, 5 days later.
“Getting involved was not something I expected to do but after seeing the tears of joy on the faces of all the cyclists finishing the gruelling 120-mile cycle ride last year, I knew I wanted to be a part of it!”
However, it hasn’t been an easy ride for Bob!
“Having not ridden a bike properly in almost 30 years, it’s been quite a shock to get back into the saddle! I’m training most Sundays and have recently completed my first 40-mile ride. My goal is to raise £1,000 for the charity via Just Giving https://www.justgiving.com/bobkennedy I’d really appreciate any donations – it will all go towards providing the initial and ongoing support to bereaved families.”
We’re kindly asking everyone to donate anything you can for the charity – the work they do is truly invaluable. To donate, click on the link above.
