The Barry Rotary Club have finalised planning for its first ever Dragon Boat Festival.
The event, which will take place on Saturday, May 28th at the Cosmeston Country Park. The primary aim of the event is to raise some serious cash for charity while having a great time!
The event involves rowers sitting side by side in a long canoe with a helm to steer. The boats are even fit with a colourful dragon head and are a truly impressive sight…
All you need to do is to find a team of 10 enthusiastic rowers and a drummer. The entry fee for this event is £400f for the whole team and you’ll need to raise a minimum in sponsorship of £25 per team member. It’s completely up to you whether you find a benefactor for some or all of the entry fee, or pay it between you.
As well as being a great opportunity to have a good time, the driving force for this event is to raise money for charity. You are able to fundraise for the Rotary or to split your fundraising between the Rotary and a different charity. Whatever your choice, you can be sure that any money pledged to Rotary will be used to help worthy causes in the local community, including the young, elderly and disadvantaged.
