As you all should know by now, Introbiz has joined forces with the Cardiff Devils ice hockey team and when we agreed to sponsor this game, we had to go along to see the men with sticks in action! In their last pre-season game, the Devils were looking for a big win to propel themselves into the new season. Standing in their way was Coventry Blaze.
Although this was a friendly pre-season match, it was clear to see, and feel, how important this win was for the Devils. Sponsoring this event was an honour for Introbiz and it was great to see our logo up on the screens dotted around the rink. We were also fortunate enough to have a box up in the seating area and it was great to see some of the Introbiz members also ready to enjoy some serious ice hockey.
As the crowd started to find their seats, or some of the daredevils who preferred to stand close to the high glass panels surrounding the rink, the red carpet was laid onto the ice as Paul Smolinski, Introbiz Managing Director, stepped forward to present the ceremonial faceoff between the 2 captains.
The game began with a flurry of speeding players, clattering into the giant glass panels and the puck skidding across the ice in all directions. The first goal came from an impressive backhand shot by Jake Morissette at 15:33. Blaze then went ahead and scored 4 unanswered goals. The mood within the Big Blue Tent was not dampened though as the Devils made a tremendous comeback with 5 goals! Chris Culligan, Jesse Mychan, Trevor Hendrikz, Doug Clarkson and Brent Walton scored a goal each which meant a very exciting end to a great game. We even saw a little scuffle and the opposition’s goalkeeper hitting his stick against the goal in frustration, much to the delight of the Devils’ fans!
To close this great event, Tracey Smolinski, Introbiz managing director also took to the red carpet on the ice to present Carl Hudson with the well-deserved title of Man of the Match. Introbiz are extremely proud to have the Cardiff Devils as a new member of the network and we’re looking forward to many more amazing events in the very near future – not forgetting the first ever Introbiz and the Cardiff Devils Business Club which kicks off on Thursday, September 11th at the Radisson Blu, Cardiff from 4-6pm.
