On Friday, January 30th, Introbiz’s very own Tracey Smolinski travelled to the ICC Birmingham for a truly amazing experience.
She was invited to join countless SBS (Small Business Sunday) winners for the day, for informal networking and to gain some valuable advice from former Dragons’ Den star, Theo Paphitis. Having set up his very own company at just 23, reviving the fortunes of notable retail brands such as La Senza and Ryman, along with a spell as Chairman for Millwall FC, it’s fair to say that Theo’s business advice is truly second to none.
There were so many inspirational business owners and leaders at the event, and it was great to listen to the various success stories. This theme continued throughout the talks and Question Time. Theo gave an inspirational talk as he took to the stage to discuss his drive for starting SBS and gave an insight into his future projects, including an improved SBS winners’ website.
Following Theo’s talk was Question Time. Joining Theo for this exciting part of the day was the woman behind St. Tropez Tan, Judy Naake, Julien Callede who is 1 of 3 founders of made.com and Rob Forkan who founded Gandys flip flops with his brother.
Tracey networked and socialised with various SBS winners from all sorts of different industries including Kim Thomas-Jones of Welsh Royal Crystal, Mel Oates of Typography of Love, Nicola Heals of Nic Nacs and Laura of Introtweets.
During the event, Tracey was lucky enough to grab a picture with the man himself! She even left with a goodie bag filled with cool tools and plenty of information.
